Horse Creek Thoroughbreds combines quality stock and expert horsemanship to produce horses that will put you in the winner's circle. Our experience in the Thoroughbred industry spans over three decades and encompasses numerous aspects, from pedigree analysis, to breeding, training, racing, and rehabilitation of retired equine athletes.

Based in western South Dakota near the Black Hills, we provide a place for horses to be horses. With abundant turn-out space and a nurturing atmosphere for breeding stock, developing juveniles, and racehorses needing a freshening, Horse Creek Thoroughbreds is a virtual "horse heaven". The smaller scope of our operation allows us to give individual attention to a select group of broodmares and resident stallion, Finn McCool. As a result, our horses have gone on to successful careers at the race track, in the arena and on ranches throughout the region.  Represented on the state sire lists with Finn McCool, a son of Meadowlake, and former Horse Creek stallion, Grey West, by Gone West, we consistently rank among the top operations in the area. Our newest venture, Great Plains Thoroughbred Advantage, is a rehabilitation program for "off-the-track" geldings. With the goal of producing "Great Geldings", we offer owners and trainers of geldings, nearing the end of sustainable racing careers, an outlet for their backside companions. With the endorsement of track veterinarians and racing managers across the country, qualifying horses are referred to us for retraining as ranch or show mounts. We have a selection of graduates available throughout the year and feature their exploits on the "Great Geldings" page.
